Sitting Room Design Ideas

The sitting room or living room is typically an area in your home where you gather with friends and family in an intimate setting featuring your most elegant décor. Most sitting rooms have a fireplace as the focal point to create warmth and ambience. In today's new home designs they are often spaces that adjoin the dining room, great room or kitchen making it easy to entertain.

When choosing sofas and chairs you'll want something that is lush and comfortable like Italian silk or suede. Since this room doesn't have a ton of daily traffic (and probably is not a room the children can play in) you can pamper yourself with luxurious sitting and accessories like gorgeous cashmere throws.
