About Our Plans

How to Purchase Online House Plans

Buying the ideal house plan to meet your needs and lifestyle preferences doesn’t need to be difficult or time-consuming if you plan ahead and know what to look for and what questions to ask.

While searching for your ideal home plan consider which elements might be the most important to you and your family. As you start your online search, carefully consider how many floors and rooms your family will need. Think about your existing living space and how much more or less room you want and need. One of the most important considerations is the style of your new house plan.

You’ll find a lot of different styles of home plans as you search through our site, and one of the first items you’ll need to do is decide what style you want. Search through the styles on our Architectural Styles page and decide what style resonates with you and what works best for the neighborhood you’re building in.

If you have your building lot, find out any lot issues like width and depth restrictions or sloping factors. These are important items to consider as you search for your plans.

Each set of construction documents and house plans on our site includes detailed, dimensioned floor plans, basic electric layouts, structural information, cross sections, roof plans, cabinet layouts and elevations, as well as general specifications. They contain all of the information you’re builder needs to construct your new home. And not all house plan companies provide what we do, so do your homework and read important information before buying plans to know you’re buying from a trusted source.

Additional aspects that you should consider:

If outdoor living is important to you and your family, consider features like patios, porches or decks. Do you prefer a large eat-in kitchen or would you prefer a large formal dining room? Do you need a den, home office or place for hobbies? Do you like cathedral ceilings or open areas, wood burning fireplaces, large bay windows or skylights? All these factors should be considered while searching for your ideal home plan, and remember many of these items can be modified into any of our plans.

Zoning & Restrictions

Also consider local zoning requirements as you search for plans by checking with your local town hall building department. You can also find out what the estimated property taxes are which is important to factor in to your mortgage payment.

Search through our Architectural Collections to get more options to narrow your search and if you have questions or need help with your search, live chat, email or call us 866-214-2242 and we’d be happy to help you.
