National Curb Appeal Month is coming to a close and we are looking at yet another aspect of a home\u2019s curb appeal, the walkways and driveways. There are a variety of options to choose from and you can be sure that there is something for your project.<\/p>\n

Here are some of the most popular walkway materials you can choose from before building your next walkway.<\/p>\n

1. Brick<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nBrick is available in rich colors and a variety of patterns. While they are expensive to install they have a big, positive impact on a home\u2019s resale value. Properly installed brick carry low maintenance cost and the material should last a lifetime. The term ‘paver’ refers to a thin flat stone used in paving products such as walkways, patios, and driveways. Pavers are readily available in a variety of styles. They may cost more compared to other materials but they carry relatively low maintenance costs and can last for about 30 to 40 years. \"Limestone<\/a><\/p>\n

Asphalt is a popular option in the Northern United States. The material is pliable and can withstand freeze-thaw cycles better than concrete or pavers. The black color also retains heat which can help melt snow relatively quickly, however it requires regular maintenance between three and five years.<\/p>\n

5. Basalt Pavers<\/strong><\/p>\n

An igneous rock that comes from the Earth\u2019s oceanic crust, basalt pavers are hard, dense, and durable. \u00a0The rectilinear geometry and gray-to-black palette makes it a great complement to a modern home.<\/p>\n
